Rhol Color® is a demi-permanent hair color that has no ammonia. Rohl Color fades gradually, returning you to your original color in 4-5 weeks.

YUKO Hair Straightening

YUKO® Permanent (Japanese) Hair Straightening

YUKO Permanent Hair Straightening is a revolutionary hair straightening (thermal reconditioning) system. This permanent straightening process was designed to both straighten wavy or curly hair and revitalize the hair. After the process is completed, the hair is not only permanently straight, but is also silkier and healthier than ever.

Marcy Price has been using the YUKO System since 2000, giving her the experience and expertise that you can trust. If you are considering YUKO straightening for the first time, be sure to see her blog post that answers many of the commonly asked questions about the process.

Untangled: A Stylist Answers Questions

Questions I'm Most Often Asked about YUKO Straightening

November 2013

People unfamiliar with the YUKO System usually have lots of questions about the process and what they can expect from it. In my thirteen years of using the system, I've found these are the ones most often asked, so I thought I would share them with you here. If you're considering straightening, give me a call and I'll be glad to answer any others you might have. There's also before and after photos of some of my YUKO clients here.
.
Q: How long does the YUKO hair straightening process take?
A: 3-4 hours, depending on your specific hair type, length, amount of hair and how healthy or how damaged it is.

Q: How long does YUKO hair straightening last?
A: Hair that is treated with YUKO remains straight almost permanently, altough new hair will grow according to its natural texture. I usually recommend that clients get YUKO touch-ups every 4 to 6 months, but how often you will need it depend on your natural hair texture and how quickly your hair grows.

Q: How soon after having YUKO hair straightening can my hair be washed or get wet?
A: You can wash or wet your hair 2 day after the treatment is done. Blowing dry your hair completely after shampooing every time helps maintain its straightness.

Q: How does YUKO hair straightening work?
A: The solutions used permanently straighten your hair. They do this by physically changing the internal structure of your hair. This change in combination with the application of heat from a flat iron creates a permanent straight shape.

Q: How is YUKO Japanese hair straightening different from Brazilian/Keratin treatment methods?
A: YUKO Japanese hair straightening permanently straightens hair by physically changing the internal structure of hair whereas Brazilian/Keratin treatments temporarily coat your hair with keratin to smooth it. Brazilian/Keratin treatments wash out in about 3 months and some of the products contain hazardous chemicals that release highly carcinogenic gas.

Q: IS YUKO hair straightening safe?
A: Yes. The solutions do not contain any chemicals that produce formaldehyde or any other cancer-causing substances.

Q: Will YUKO hair straightening damage my hair?
A: The YUKO process is not solely about straightening your hair—it also re-texturizes it to a healthy shine. Correct application (and the desired outcome) requires a trained and experienced stylist. My thirteen years of experience means that you can trust my knowledge of the process and how to use it to get the optimum results on your hair.

Q: Does YUKO hair straightening work on any type of hair?
A: It works on all hair types. The best candidate for YUKO hair straightening is healthy virgin hair or hair that has been colored by a stylist with single process color (not home color).

Q: Can I have YUKO hair straightening and color at the same time?
A: No. Your hair should be colored at least 2 weeks before or after the straightening. Applying both chemical treatments simultaneously will result in hair damage, so it's important to do them separately and spaced two weeks apart.

Q: I have had my hair straightened using a different brand of Japanese hair straightening before. Can I still have YUKO hair straightening done?
A: If the previous straightening procedure used the same chemical as YUKO straightening solutions (Ammonium Thioglycolate), applying YUKO will not be a problem. You should however contact the company that manufactures the earlier treatment to make sure the chemicals are the same. But—even if both use the same chemicals—the YUKO hair straightening process may not fully work if your is hair is badly damaged already. That is something that I can help you assess in a consultation appointment.

Q: I have done a relaxer/Brazilian/Keratin treatment before. Can I still have YUKO hair straightening done?
A: No. I don't recommend getting YUKO hair straightening, except on new growth. I encourage clients to wait 3-4 months until the these treatment coatings are completely off your hair before you get YUKO hair straightening.

Q: Do I need to use special hair-care products after the YUKO treatment?
A: YUKO offers home care products that will work optimally on your hair and I carry these in the salon.

I'm Marcy

In the years since, she has found permanent hair straightening to be the most life altering experience people will ever have in a hair salon—creating both dramatic cosmetic differences and a lifestyle change in the ease of care it offers those challenged by difficult to style hair. Marcy loves to golf and is proud to be a Clemson fan in the capital city. To schedule an appointment with Marcy, call her at 796-9800.

I'm Kathy
